On November 26, Brussels hosted a breakfast briefing of ambassadors of the Committee on policy and security of the EU member States regarding Ukraine’s cyber resilience.

The event took place with the participation of Peter Wagner, the Head of Support Group for Ukraine in the European Commission, Olga Aivazovska, Head of the Board of the Civil Network OPORA, Roman Boiarchuk, the founder of the NGO “International Cybersecurity University”, and Merle Maigre, Executive Vice President for Government Relations of CybExer Technologies.

Among the discussed issues was the report “Post-Election Assessment of the Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Interagency Cooperation in Ukraine with Related Recommendations”, which became part of the EU action to support Ukraine’s cybersecurity during the elections. The meeting addressed the following questions: what lessons have Ukraine learned as a result of cyberattacks? What is the significance of this experience for the EU and other neighboring countries? What have our country’s international partners done to support Ukraine’s cyber resilience in the context of elections and what should be done more in Ukraine and in the wider Eastern Partnership region?

Conclusions of the meeting:

1. At the level of EU – Ukraine it is possible to launch the bilateral cyber dialog:

– Previously, dialogues were conducted with individual EU member States, but not with the EU as a whole, and there were certain political reasons for this

– However, now there are all prerequisites for the start of this format of the dialog.

2. Projects will be launched and continued to support e-government, electronic trust services, and the Twinning project in the field of cybersecurity.

3. A number of pan-European initiatives will be launched to adapt legislation in the field of electronic election systems.

According to Roman Boiarchuk, “International Cybersecurity University” will continue to cooperate actively with international institutions that support Ukraine’s cyber resilience, the unification of professional cyber society and strengthening information security in Ukraine.
